The primary goal of this project was to develop a 2D tracking system utilizing a single camera, specifically designed to monitor the movements of a hockey stick during shooting. The system’s purpose is to accurately capture the hockey stick’s position, its flexion, and the puck’s speed across various shot trials. CCM aims to provide personalized recommendations for selecting the optimal hockey stick for individuals by analyzing the tracking data.

The main challenge in this project revolved around tracking a slim stick (approximately 2cm thick) over substantial distances. One of the main challenges was to observe the stick’s deformation during shooting when only a limited surface area of the hockey stick is visible. Additionally, the project encountered the obstacle of a brief action time; on average, the entire shooting process lasted only a few seconds.
